La fiesta del pueblo will be held this year in Downtown Raleigh on Sunday 9-24 starting at 12:00 PM. This will be held at the 400 block of Fayetteville Street in the Raleigh City Plaza. This is a great opportunity to connect with hispanic communities. This event will be a great way for students to experience the culture first hand and become educated in the communities around them. It is free and open to the public! More information may be found on their facebook here.

Two weeks ago, students participated in their first breakout of the quarter and it was quite a success! This game seeks to promote critical thinking along with collaboration and communication skills. Essentially, students are provided with clues spread out around the room (completely in Spanish!) with one task - unlock a box that has 5 locks on it within 45 minutes with minimum assistance. Most classes took about 35 minutes to escape!
Tarea Semanal - Students have been doing awesome work on our Tarea Semanal weekly homework assignments. Check out some student creations below! Many students have created memes in Spanish, worked on Duolingo, recreated works of art from the Spanish Speaking world, ordered food in local restaurants using Spanish, watched films or tv shows in Spanish and even spent time engaging with the music using things like Pandora. I am blown away by the talent of our classes and am always looking forward to see which activities they completed!
